Busy Geek is Busy

2012/02/27

Just got back from GalaxyFest, a brand new con in Colorado Springs, which benefits the Colorado Literacy Foundation. I am really loving this charity trend coming out with the new conventions. On the slate for June is the new Denver Comic Con at the Colorado Convention Center, and they are benefiting the Comicbook Classroom project, which uses the graphic novel medium to inspire kids to write and create.

Add to that the 50th Annual Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17th, with a new float and the addition of the Colorado Movie Cars to our lineup, we’re going to ROCK the streets of LoDo with our awesomeness. And then we have Starfest in April, which is always a big event, and will be quickly followed by the 2nd Annual May the Fourth celebration at the Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum. With the help of the museum’s new marketing firm, we’re hoping to make this year an all-out success!

Later in the summer, I’ve got tickets to see Colorado’s own Parker & Stone’s “The Book of Mormon.” These were not tickets easy to come by, but I was determined, and made it through the ticket system to snap them up. And then there’s my ULTIMATE GEEKTASTIC VACATION OF AWESOMENESS! Star Wars Celebration 6, followed by a road trip up the southern coast with my best friend, and then it’s Dragon*Con 2012, baby!

So, I am really thrilled with everything on the schedule this year. May not have as much time for a lot of other stuff, but I am gearing up for the R2-KT Make-A-Wish Auction that I run at Starfest (and always looking for geektastic donations), as well as starting a contest for my work with The X-Wing Project (check out our Facebook page for forthcoming details).

If you need me, I’ll be the exhausted one on the other side of September.
