The Fault in Our Election


We live in the same country we did before the election, the only difference is that all of the things we mistakenly tried to keep hidden in the dark corners of our lives are now out in the open for the whole world to see, and where we can no longer pretend that they never existed. The division, the division of the haves and have nots, the division of the educated and the uneducated, the division of religion, the division of race, the division of sex. We have to admit that we have allowed these things to continue to thrive in the dark, because we were too afraid to admit these things might be growing within ourselves as well. And we have to admit that we have failed to believe in the most sacred of the texts in our constitution, “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity…” Their Posterity has failed to keep this promise. We have failed to uphold our duties as Americans. We made this happen with our neglect. The fault belongs to us.
